So You Forgot Your Lunch?

10:44 AM

We've all been there - you're on your way to work when you realize you left your lunch in the fridge at home. Or that you forgot to consider your lunch altogether.

Instead of grabbing something from the vending machines or going through the drive thru, consider adding a healthier alternative into the mix, by making a quick trip to the grocery store for this easy, whole food solution.

Simply mix together a can of tuna, half of an avocado, and some grape tomatoes. Between the healthy fats in the avocado, the 22 grams of protein in a can of tuna, and the loads of nutrients and antioxidants in the tomatoes, this simple meal will give you sustained energy to last you through the rest of the day. You'll spend under $5, and you'll have half of an avocado and some tomatoes to spare for another meal.

You can mix it up, too, based on your tastes. Add a bed of lettuce, some celery or bell pepper for a nice crunch. If you need a condiment, try keeping it clean by adding some spicy mustard, instead of the mayo that's typically used to make tuna salad.

What are you doing to make healthier lunch choices? I'd love to hear! Please share in the comments below, or by snapping a picture on Instagram with the hashtag #wiredforwellness.
